This Is Just Terrible

OOF! Hey, who the--?

Uh...you don't exactly look like you're from here, and your accent is very different--

What? No, we were just...hey, you might want to get clear of here.  There are some pretty crazy wild Pokemon around this path.  Better be careful--

Or, just laugh at me like a snorting frog.  That's fine, too--

Miss, you may not want to lay down in the grass here.  There are wild Pokemon around and they aren't very friendly--

Yes, this is shorter grass, but...uh...somebody spilled something up the path and the Pokemon are going nuts over it--

What is so damned funny, guy?

Yeah, Jess, this guy really should back off--

No, she's not threatening you, dude! She's--

Oh...how stupid am I?

Gligar, go.

Alright, fella...are we gonna do this or what?

Yes, this is a challenge.

Go ahead, relish it all you want.  I'll be sure to make your short stay in Cythos very interesting.

He had a bug up his ass about battling, I could tell.  He isn't gonna leave us alone until one of us fights him, so you can hang back in the grass if you don't want a piece of the action.

Alright, who's your Pokemon, Mister Fancy-Pants?

Seriously though, um...what is that? Jess?

Your Pokedex says it's a Vulpix? I thought Vulpix were red? And don't they usually have several tails?

This...this is a Pokemon from a different region? Kalos? Where's that? Do they all talk funny there--?

Will you stop laughing already?! Gligar, use Dig!

Dive down deep and when you're ready, pop up and send this thing back to where it came from!

Gah, it evaded! Hang in there, Gligar--

Get back in the dirt! Dig deep down and try again, Gligar!

Alright, now that's a little better! Now, hit it with--

You're...you're done? That's it? Well...if you recalled your Pokemon first, that means I won, right? So, I'll take my prize, thank you.

Well...umm...no, there's no problem.  This is $300, but uh, if you have a Potion, I'll take that instead.

No, I didn't mean to insult you.  It's just that we're a ways away from a Poke-Mart and I need a Potion pretty bad for my Gligar.  A Potion costs $300, and that would be worth more to me than $300 right now.  I mean besides, you might be able to--

Or just throw it down on the ground and spit on it.  Great, thanks...miserable prick.

Okay, Gligar, heal up.  No idea what we might encounter next, so just stay out of your ball for now and keep an eye out.

Those are some high stone walls along the path to Kahu...

Which makes this downed tree a real pain in the ass to work around.

Plenty of ways around it, you say? Someone even dug underneath it? That sounds like someone we might know, but no way of knowing that.

Jess, I don't know if bringing her along would--

Oh, you don't want to come along? Want to be close to Isis in case the tournament ends up happening? Well, I can't say if that's going to happen anytime soon, but Prodiga just reopened her gym if you wanted to watch some Pokemon battles.

Now, to deal with this tree...hmm...if only I had my Snorlax with me, we could just--

Wait! I do have Snorlax with me! Go, big buddy! Move that tree!

Yeah, Jess, you go ahead and use Roses to scout for danger.  Just make sure--

Why don't I name my Pokemon? Well, honestly, I don't know the kinds of Pokemon that well, so I just call them what they are so I can learn.  Besides, it's not like I have multiples of the same kind, so I don't have to differentiate between them really.

Well, I imagine it does add a sort of sentimentality to the relationship, but they evolve, don't they? I mean, I wouldn't want to name one something and then have its name not fit after it evolves.  I supposed I could name them based on what they will become, but I'm not very familiar with Pokemon, so it would take a lot of research just to do that.

Then again, I do have some Pokemon that probably won't evolve any further, so--

Oh shit! Danger already? Looks like it's on that wall--

Wait, that sounds like a child.  Is your Murkrow attacking a child?! Stop it! Snorlax! Move that tree--!

Wait, Flash? Why is Umbreon using FLash--?

Did you hear that thud? It sounds like--

OH GOD.  SNORLAX, DID YOU JUST HIT THAT KID WITH A TREE?!

This is...this is just terrible.

We need to get over there.  I can't fit through that hole beneath the tree, but Snorlax can boost me over the top of the tree.  It's a little easier to get over it now that he's moved it a bit.

Okay, the kid looks alright, but we should probably get him into--

Town.  We're already here? Wow, that was quick.  We should hit up the Pokemon Center and get healed up.

And look, there's the bike shop right over there.  That's pretty convenient.

While I'm here in the Pokemon Center, I might as well check my email.

Hey, I've got a message!

Dear Mr. Cedar,

While helping out in town I noticed that few things were on the fritz.  After tracing back circuit and lines, it's clear there is a problem with the main power grid and not just the local transformer.  The power plant is in a neighboring town, however. Having experienced power plant issues before, you could help fix whatever problems with me at this region's facility; may help to have old school and new school electrians on the same issue.

I intend on taking a quick nap running a tourney tomorrow,  challenging Prodiga, then heading through the desert to get to the plant.  Keep in touch and ill hopefully see you there.

Spc Kevin Adams

PS. Be careful

Better write a reply real quick.

I'll be in Kahu.  Meet me at the bike shop at noon.  -Tom

Jess, I have to get going.  I don't know what you've got planned, but I need to meet your uncle back in Herne tonight before Kevin comes to Kahu.  I'm meeting him at noon at the bike shop; if you wanted to come with, meet us there, but don't feel like you need to come up to the mountains with Hitch and I.  Take care of yourself.

Now...just some quick supplies.

Seven Poke Balls for Route 3 and two Great Balls for the Bagon should be enough, especially considering one of those Poke Balls is Kevin's that he gave me so I could catch him a Joltik.  Hitch might have a potion or two with him, but if we keep the repels up until we get to the cliffs, we should be golden.

Now...let's hunt some dragons.

Use As Directed

That looks like Kahu over there beyond those hills, so let's--

Oh...hey there, kid.

Can...can we help you--?

Woah, what--?!

Jesus, okay, you want to battle? Let's do this then.  That fella's a Fire-type, and the other looks like a Ground-type to me, so Gligar, have some fun!

Jess, which one are you--?

Carvanha...legitimate option.  Gligar! Dig down! Let's let Jess get first crack at these guys.  When you're ready, pop up and hit that slug!

Great hit! You focus on the slug and Jess will focus on the pig--

What is it doing?

That...looks...like...

ICE! SHIT! SHIT! GLIGAR! DIG BACK INTO THE DIRT!

Alright, the pig is down and the slug is focused on Carvanha.  Now!

There we go! A few more fights like that under the moonlight and you should be evolving into something quite fierce.  Just try to hang in there, girl.

$400 a piece is a decent victory prize for each of us.  Man, I wish there was a Poke-Mart on the way so I could pick up a potion for--

Oh, thanks Jess.  Here, lemme give you $300 for the--

No? Are you sure?

Well...thank you.

The roadside flora is getting a little...drier.  We must be getting closer to the desert in between Kahu and  Mastam.  I wonder what kind of Pokemon we could find out here.

Maybe just a little spritz--

Hey, look at that little guy! I think I've seen them before in Kanto! I want to say a gym leader used one in some capacity--

Nidoran! Yeah! I thought I heard of another powerful Nido-something before, but I just--

WOAH! What the--?!

That thing looks adorable, but good golly, it looks stark-raving mad!

Jess, your Pokedex said it was called a Teddiursa, right--?

Jess! Wait! No! Don't use more!

Uh oh...

Oh crud.  Jess?

Wait...how many Pokemon do you have out, Jess?

OH SHIT! CHINCHOU!

Use Thunder Wave on the Nidoran!

We're just trying to keep it out of the fray.  Don't fry it.

Alright, that should keep it still.  Now, Poke Ball!

Hey, that was a pretty quick capture.  Now, for the Teddi--

Wait...Jess...you caught that thing?

She won't catch any of the Bug-types I left for her because they weren't Dark-types, but she'll catch a Normal-type right before a Fighting-type gym?

Teenage girls...what exactly goes on in their heads?

More Pokemon are coming? We should probably...just...leave.

Also, let's only use the PokeLure as directed.

Also, I should write directions on how to use that stuff.
